Bethania Rehabilitation Centre for the Disabled was born out the unquenching thirst of the Sisters of Bethany to care and support the need of the differently abled women in different part of Trivandrum. The year 1981, the World Disabled Year inspired us to start a residential programme for the disabled women which was cherished when Sri. Major Francis of Philips’ Hill, Kumarapuram in his great generosity offered 47 cents of his property to construct a care home for the handicapped women at Kumarapuram, Trivandrum. Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios along with Fr. Joseph Gnayallor supported the sisters through their timely advice and prayerful support. Thus in 1988 under the skilled leadership of Rev. Sister Vijaya SIC the then Provincial Superior (TVM) Rev. Sr. Philomina and other dedicated sisters took initiative in this noble venture.
